Pula and Fazana Croatia
Woke up to a beautiful breakfast on the table including fresh pastries...of course! Andy and been busy this morning.
A couple minute from our place is Zerostrasse. An entire underground system (6 miles worth). They were built approx 100 years ago and capable of housing 6,000 people. Built to protect the people during bombings and used during WWI and WWII.
A visit to the Roman Forum and more roman ruins. Had to stop off at the local candy shop to check it out and see what Croatian candy looked like. Kids found gummy dentures! LOL!
We asked our waitress at dinner the other night where people are from here and she said 50% German, 50% Italians, 50% Croatians. The food definitely reflects this as well. Seems like lots of seafood, schnitzel and pizza.
Off to Fazana (25 minute car ride) for lunch. Parked and started walking along the water. There are many outdoor restaurants along the water. We found a nice one and had some fresh calamari and a steak stuffed with cheese which was a new twist for us. At the end of the meal the waitress brought us shots of whisky. Kids liked tasting the sangria, but after the smell of the whisky it was a hard pass for them. Wow...what a way to wrap up lunch! Had the MOST DELICIOUS gelato of the trip so far at this little place called Leone.
We went in search of a lighthouse that was had an old bridge that you can climb out on and jump off of. After a two mile walk in the heat, a very scary passing along a cliff where Andy said to me, don't look to the right and hold onto the tree branches we learned the bridge no longer exists. However, we did find this little place with a funky little table/chairs that you could chill at.Back to Pula for more wakeboarding! Saylor choose to check out skis this time. Hudson couldn't get enough and could just go round and round and never seemed to tire out. The operator took a liking to the the kids and let them go an extra hour. It was the best because there was no line. So we were there for a good 3 hours.
A quick late night dinner, final beer on the deck overlooking the marina and to bed.
