Seattle - Newark - Lisbon, Portugal
Four hours later and time to get up! Since we had trouble with our documents we need to leave early, 4:30. Lyft arrived, but surprise, with Covid we can't use the front seat. No other in the area so had to wait 30 minutes for the next one. We were on the corner waiting for our driver as he pulled up. No time to waste, of course he was the s-l-o-w-e-s-t driver ever! People were flashing lights at him so he would speed up. Just how our life has been rolling lately. Made it to the gate and ready to vacation!
Nonstop to Newark. A quick 5 hours. I got an hour of sleep and the other three Lemkes got a couple. Everyone up and ready to have some fun and food. Took a taxi to Torna a Sorrento . It was the perfect Italian restaurant for this early evening dinner. We were all starving and decided to go family style with eggplant parmesan, fettuccini bolognese, 4 cesar salads (amazing!), thick cut pork chops, a house speciality that was veal in a mild buttery lemon sauce and sides of vegetables and more pasta! Everything was so good and then finished off with tiramisu and tartufo, consisted of chocolate and vanilla ice cream with a filling and covered with a hard chocolate layer. A perfect ending to a great meal. The best part was our waiter who was born in Italy and older than us, was the son of the owner. They have been there for over 35 years. It was amazing to sit have have a dinner for 1 1/2 hours. We never do that and now it was officially vacation mode. We had 30 minutes to kill so pulled out the cards and played. It was a perfect layover before the next long run. Everyone full and happy we headed to the airport.
Seven hour flight and a little sleep. This is travel in Covid times.
