Beach and Tapas!

 August 9, 2021

Tavira, Portugal

I hoped over to our little bakery and stood in line.  Just as I was up next a pregnant woman walked up to the front of the line and asked me if she could go next? I was a little surprised and another woman explained to me that all civilized countries allow the pregnant woman to skip the line.  Another leaning opportunity. Wish I lived here while I was prego.

Feeling like a local being able to hang our clothes out to dry. Ready for the next round of travel.

A walk around our town for a little history and beauty. We visited a beautiful old church, a fort and went inside a water tower that was converted into a viewing point of the city with a lens.

Off to Barril beach.  You actually have to get on a train that takes you out to the island. (tip...be sure to bring cash to pay for the train).  Then a short walk to the beach. A couple really fun restaurants and bars, lots of cabanas and the water was much warmer in this area.  Definitely more of a family vibe here. The anchor cemetery is here. Rows and rows of anchors that represent ships that have not returned to port.

A quick shower and off to dinner, just a quick walk up the hill.  Lots of little tables out on the sidewalk.  Ours was right on the bend of the corner. We order wine and sangria which helps to forget about possibly getting hit by a car. This is a cute little tapas place.  We had some wonderful items including octopus.  So good...all of it! Off to gelato and an stroll home.
