Checked back into our sweet hotel La Selva in the Old Quarter. Went to Doungs and had the most mouthwatering dinner ever! I had my first ever amuse-bouche. It was so fun. 3 items on a cute little plate. It was a special spring roll type bite, next it was almost like a rice wafer with 3 random roasted peanuts (so random) and finished it off with a shot of watermellonish juice. Two of the things I would not consider eating at home but loved them all. Next came a vietmanese pancake and fresh spring rolls. It just keeps getting better. A bbq type grill came out with some delicate local fish, a bowl of pho (Hudson has wanted this since we started planning the trip) where they bring the broth in a kettle and pour it over. The chef is from the show Top Chef. It was one of those "wow, I can't believe we are so lucky to have this dinner" moments. I think the entire dinner was around $40. Livin like royalty here on the cheap.
Across the street was one of many spas. Saylor and I were ready and excited. The first step to enter into the spa was a big glass fish tank. Kind of fun. We ordered our 30 minute massages ($12) and waited for them to prepare our room. Andy and Hudson were out walking the street. They came and got us and we started walking up four floors of stairs. I was a little concerned. All these floors with open massage rooms....why are they making us walk up all these floors? Who was waiting for us up there? What was going to happen? After having us lay on the beds the questions continued in my head. After five minutes I realized it was all good and enjoyed a great massage. At about that time our ladies jumped up on our beds like a cat would on a fence and perched themselves there for most of the massage. Nice strong massage and relaxing. We were done and the boys were waiting. Saylor and I could have used another hour and been very happy Hanoi campers.
