It's my big birthday! Well, it is my asian birthday. It isn't the 5th in Seattle yet so I will celebrate twice!
Up at 6:00 and out the door and in the shuttle at 6:15.
At the airport and on the way to the gate there was an american couple arguing behind us as we walked. We were looking at each other and reading each other's minds but couldn't say it out loud. Now with the opportunity to say it, we all agreed that we hoped they were not on our flight and especially to not have to sit near them. Of course we sat near them! Actually in the same row. He slammed back three large beers and they said their goal was to get F**ked up on the flight. Yep, 9:00 am flight and lite up!
All went well and landed in Kuala Lumper at 1:00. Out of customs by 2:00 and found our driver. First stop was the Batu Caves. As we pulled up it was more impressive than any picture can portray. Brilliant colors in every direction. It was amazing. Worth the 240 steep steps up to them. So hot though. 90 degrees with full humidity. Wild monkey were everywhere. It was kind of like their monkeys are our crows.
In front of the Petronas Towers. Had to just stop, stare and take it in. Very impressive and feeling very small at the bottom of the towers. Had a quick bite and then back to our car and driver. Well, just the car. Our driver was no where to be found. 15 minutes later he showed up. Off we went, well sat really. Traffic was terrible and we weren't really moving. In fact, we considered getting out and walking until the traffic cleared. After a lot of stress and our driver driving a bit crazy we made it to the airport for our 9:00 flight. Major lightening storm on the way to the airport and there were two dead pigs in the middle of the freeway. Our driver told us they run wild here.
KL had some beautiful Christmas decorations So weird seeing all of these Christmas decorations and being so hot! Not a lot of flavor for the city of KL. I'm sure the beaches and rural areas are beautiful though with it being so lush. We had an 8 hour layover and would not do what we did if it was any shorter. Asked the family if it was worth all the security, customs and driving and everyone agreed it was. It was a very quick, fun visit.
Time for our third country in one day. What a day! I asked the kids if they were ready to go home and everyone is still excited to continue on.
Hudson wanted to add: Love you Bama! Hope you have a wonderful birthday!
