Budapest, Hungry

Well, what a morning! Our hotel was amazing, and we checked in early at 7 AM. As soon as we entered the room, we stripped our nasty clothes, put them in a corner jumped in the shower, cleaned off all the yuck from the bus and had a good three hour nap. I’ve been off. We went by 10 AM to explore the city. We walked the street to see the amazing architecture here. It seems like all the historical sites are more beautiful than Krakow. However, the street seems a little bit greedier and definitely more edgy. The blocks here are extremely long, maybe even longer than New York City. We are staying on the Peste side and making our way down to the water. And we saw the memorial of the shoes along the river. Such a sad story more torture for the Holocaust victims.
We took the number two streetcar which runs up and down the water and is a
great way to see the waterfall way and giving yourself a little break. We also
toured the. Market where there is a ton of food, stalls and fruits and
vegetables and meats and fish and then the upstairs is a bunch of restaurants
and things to buy. Super busy but fantasy and it’s a beautiful public market.
Just across the way is a restaurant called for sale. Known for the best
Hungarian goulash around Andy had it and it was a giant portion. I had the
gypsy Chicken, which was amazing. I don’t know the story behind it or why it
is, but there’s straw on the floor and peanut shells and all over the walls.
Ceiling are notes the people of Britain over the years. Anything From wishes to
say or future goals or memories. To read them.
We bought tickets online and are now headed to the thermal
baths. When you check in, they give you something that looks like a swatch
watch that you wear. I believe you can charge to this, but also allows you to
get into your changing cabin. Not everybody has a changing cabin so that was
kind of fun and felt very decadent. The buildings are painted a mustard yellow,
which makes it feel very opulent. There are three giant outdoor springs, one of
which is a 50 m lap pool. Then you go start exploring the indoor facilities
which is a labyrinth of showers, thermal spas, sauna rooms, beer room (drink
and bath in beer), sleeping beds, massage rooms, cold plunge, a sauna where
salt spits out into the air, there is a small round pool inside one of the main
outdoor pools that has a current that allows you to be whipped around and
almost a whirlpool type situation. So much fun! Everyone is coming out with a
giant smile on their face. Finished off with sitting and enjoying a nice drink
and soaking up the experience of what was surrounding us.
Walking home, we ran across Heroes Square and the most gorgeous castle in the middle of the city. One of the prettier castles I’ve seen, and it was lit up in the evening, which made it even more special. Looking at pictures on the Internet it appears that they have ice-skating outside next to it in the winter, it must be magical.
Back to the room for a quick change and met up with Jeff
from Klahaya and a number of other experts that are laughing and drinking. It
was fun to hear all their travel stories and what it’s like to live there.
10:30 now, we went to a bar, which is part of the Ruins area of bars. It is a big, two-story building and definitely could be a sensory overload. Party zone. bars, karaoke bars, and loud music and lights. It would be an amazing place to be in my 20s. A quick late night bite and time for bead.

A bit more of a leisurely morning today. We’ve been
averaging 20,000 steps a day and it’s starting to hit us. Shared a little
breakfast, wandered through different streets and just explored. Enjoyed a
chimney cake. Definitely like it with ice cream in it. Jeff suggested the 216 bus
which will take you over to the Buddha side and up to the top of the hill to
explore the castle. Walked around the top of the hill and explored the castle
and it’s gorgeous with breathtaking views. There’s an Oktoberfest going on with
fun, live music, and lots of beer. Eventually we made it to lunch and then took
the stairs down from the hill.
Tired but needing a little something for dinner we headed to
a chicken rotisserie place that we saw probably we ordered a nice roast chicken
and quickly learned evidently that roast beans fried. It was fantastic fried
chicken shared that grabbed the quick ice cream and headed back to the room
because we have an early morning. Budapest has been a beautiful city and treated
us well. Definitely more edgy than Krakow. And Budapest, you see a lot of young
people dressing, industrial punk I guess I would say, and fashion magazine
looks in Krakow.
