Pits, Peaks, & Points - Albania!
Cindy
Peaks John & Paer were a treasure, Himare, our hotel in
Himare with the genuine family who ran it, super fun boat exercusion some the
Himare coast. For those that want to know, 55€ for 5 1/2 hours. Labrose, boat
captain, shared his Spotify playlist with me.
The Family Restaurant was very good for a heaping plate of kebabs and only €8 including an appetizer. Maybe the BEST meal in Albania.
Pits: Albanian guy at breakfast telling us we and our
country are evil and not willing to have a reasonable conversation ( kind of
like some people at home), wasted time going to Dahermi, Kafe Kada in Himare was not good even though the reviews are amazing. Terrible food poising one day in
Ksamil. Either the chicken or the ice
cream got me. 🤢
Points: Best tip is to watch where people will be getting on and off the boat. Andy and I split up. I go in and grab the seats as fast as possible by the exit. Andy moves slow and boards towards the end so our luggage is on top. Make sure each person has their boarding pass on their phone so you can do this. Makes for a quick exit when you arrive so you can get of at the head of the line so you are ultimately at the head of customs. When you are waiting in a long line in the heat and sun this is a big deal!
Andy
Peaks: Himare, Jonh & Paer, Yes please, cheap Albanian
white wine
Pits: Dahermi - underwhelming, menu is all the same, big
Mercedes road hog, the attacking fish. Dopey rental car.
Points:
·
Bring LOTS and LOTS of cash! That's what
everyone wants.
·
Korca is the local beer we like best.
·
Ferry coming was €10 and going was €20 each. On the hydrofoil with
the latter and only 30 minutes compared to 60 minutes. It was fun being outside on the slower boat
over, but you are giving up time. The
hydrofoil was faster but more of a feeling of being in a tin cans.

Get there orange cake
Come back or Move On
Cindy: Move on.

Andy: move on
