Pacific Beach, CA

January 2024

Loved the Crystal Pier, could come here once a year. Andy had business during two of the days and we stayed a total of four nights which was magical because we could really settle in.  Missed cooking out on the grill. Walking the strand to breakfast was perfect. Everyone seems so chill. Rebooked for 2025. Need to think about what time of year is best. With the exception of the 15 coolege kids packed into a cottage across the way for booze fest we are the youngest people here. Fun to see the XL surf. Frozen guacamole, labeled as fresh is a lie and not very good.

Had the dream of buying a getaway place until we learned the price point.

Love how we can walk to everything.  We walked to dinner at Enoteca Adriano. A cute Italian restaurant. Sat us outside at a table and realized there was a movie about to start on the wall that was set in Italy.  Such a fun touch! Dinner was fantastic! Started with the house specialty of Enoteca Adriano, fresh burrata with prosciutto, fig jam, arugula and crostini.  My mouth is watering for it again.  Don’t miss the Orecchiette Bosco, just the best!

Grass Skirt and Captain’s Quarters are new favorites for a drink. Both really cool speakeasy bars.  Flavored gin and tonic on tap is something we should try.

Great night with Don and Lori at the Chart House. Cindy made quite the big deal about how wonderful a person Don is and made Andy jealous in the process.

Fun reconnecting with Suzie and Jay. Old stories about crazy times started to come out about things Cindy would never condone for her daughter or son. Bus to Tijuana, wawhat?

Everyday we could somehow justify that we walked enough that we could finish the night off with an ice cream from Handles.  So good!

Some drama with the flights on the heels of Alaska planes having panels blow off mid air. We just Tightened our belts and traveled without issue. LOL!

A wonderful time and can’t wait to go back!
